An App called SIP-VOIP is a VOIP software available on jailbroken iPod Touches and the iPhone. Unlike other VOIP applications it has been confirmed to work on both of Apple’s Devices.

Their plan was to make a VOIP compatible with the iPod Touch to bring an iPhone like experience to users without access to the iPhone. Check it out and tell us what you think in the comments.

SIP-VOIP does not work on the iPhone - media is garbled. There is a related software called SIPHON that does work on the iPhone, but it is restricted to running on sipfree.fr right now. There are workarounds to open it up to other sip/voip nets but the app just doesn’t work well yet.

A *much* better app for VoIP on the iPhone right now is Fring http://www.fring.com. It works with both SIP and Skype, and the audio quality of a voip call over wifi is excellent.
